School Magazines

I tried doing some research into school magazines but a lot of schools seem to have online news so it was hard to find some magazines.

I looked at this school magazine to get an idea of what one looks like. Both the front cover and the contents page were very simple. The front page is a picture taking up most of the page with a bold title and a subheading in the bottom left. The contents page to me looks good. It has a range of images across the top and bottom of the page all school themed and the page numbers and headings are in two neat collums so its easier for people to read.

I also looked at this school magazine but I didn't like it.The front cover was just a picture spread across the top quarter of the page and the rest of the page was white with a black title of the name of the school. This seemed very boring to me and also the name of the school seemed to just be there to take up the room they didnt fill up. Also I think it would have been better if they used a more 'exciting' range of colours that seemed to fit in with the school instead of just black and white. This magazine had no contents page which would have made the magazine hard to read if you wanted to find one specific topic.




What I Have Learnt:

From this I have learnt that for the front cover I need a good image that will take up a good proportion of the page to make it stand out well. The font should be a simple font but should also fit in well with the school theme. Also I need to add a bit of colour to it other than just black and white. Also when it comes to doing a contents page, i should add images to make it look interesting but it should be clear about what is on each page, and I should probably avoid the typical white background with black writing on it as it looks plain and boring.
