Views on my school Magazine

My View
I thought for a first try my magazine went quite well. The colours went well together and stood out at some points. However with the black and white background it was difficult to try and position black or white writing round the edge and keeping it clear. I thought the photo of the two students was a good photo as it was at a good angle and it was at a long shot which shows their full body. Also they were both centred so the focus automatically went to them and as they were in colour and the background was in black and white it made them stand out even more. The font was a reasonable font for a school magazine as it was a bold, clear title, however when it comes to making my music magazine I will probably use a more effective font depending on what genre, for example, an acoustic act may have stylish italic writing whereas rock would have a bright colour with a 'crazy' font. So when it comes to making my music magazine I will have to do some research into the genre first by looking at magazines with that genre/style of music and see how it differs from other genres.

I liked the front cover of the magazine, the black and white background made the main focus in the middle stand out even more. You kept to the theme of the black white and blue colours which is suitable for a school magazine and the all went well together and still stood out.
The contents page was good but it was quite plain, the background was black which is fine but I think more of the space needs to be filled up, maybe with some more images. However I liked the way the two images on the page are presented with the boxes on a slant and the blue box behind too. The ideas to go in the school magazine link in well with the school theme. Everything with these two pages is suitable for a school magazine.

I love the image on the front cover. The idea of the black and white background and the two people in colour really made them stand out which would attract the audience. I like the three colours however the titles around the edge seem to be placed to fit in with the background as the writing is in black and white so to make it easy to read you would have had to base it around the background but apart from that I think the front cover is really good and effective. I liked the contents page it was simple which is suitable for a school magazine, if it was 'crazy' or 'outrageous' it wouldn't fit in with the theme of a school magazine.




What I have learnt:
After comparing my view with the two others it seemed my school magazine was a success. When it comes to making my music magazine I will do research into music magazines and see what styles/themes are involved so I have the appropriate colours images and style. From doing this magazine I learnt that with any magazine you have to do research into whatever theme it is so you can find the 'normal' style for that magazine and also so I have the appropriate information.
